WHO'S ELIGIBLE TO APPLY?

In order to be able to apply for the Self Employment Benefits Program you must meet the following criteria:

• You must be unemployed.

• You must be on an active EI claim, on one in the last three years or on a maternal/paternal claim in the last five years.

• You must be dedicated to working full-time on developing your business plan and operating your business.

• This must be a new business (meaning one that you are not already operating). You can purchase an existing business in which you had no previous ownership.
